I had a busy weekend. Received some amazing gifts throughout this week! I got a bag, boots, perfume and jewelry! All were so beautiful and totally me! It fit me so well. I was completely surprised. The perfume is lovely…and it smells so good.
I have been thinking a lot about 2005 and what I want from 2006.

Group Work/ television vs reading/ no electricity!
I had a wonderful day today. Got to school early to finish talking to various people and meet my biology group for our project. We were working on how caffeine intake affects our blood pressure. Our hypothesis was that caffeine intake will increase our blood pressure as other researches shows. So we all met, seven of us, at 9 a.m. to measure our blood pressure. Then we all dashed to a nearby coffee place to drink down 16 oz. of coffee. It was great to see all of us nonstop talking about various things and mostly about our future. I am sure the crowd in the coffee shop thought we all have been friends for such a long time even though we have only known each other for the past month! It was just great conversation, ideas, team work! Beautifully done.
I was reading an article about the affects of television and reading. Some quotes that stood out were:
A defense of Reading, by Marie Winn. The Plug-In Drug: Television, computers, and Family life, Penquin Books, 2002
“Television captures the imagination but does not liberate it. A good book at once stimulates and frees the mind.”
“Television images do not go through a complex symbolic transformation. The mind does not have to decode and manipulate during the television experience. Perhaps this is why the visual images received directly from a television set are strong, stronger; it appears, than the images conjured up mentally while reading. But ultimately they satisfy less.”
“The television child has fewer opportunities for learning to sustain concentration than the “book” child of the past.”
Is a little embarrassing they keep referring to children but I know many adults have trouble turning the television off...me included!
Electricity went out for about two hours today and I went crazy! How much I depend on technology to keep me company. I was having lunch and watching television. I wanted to heat my food again but nope..no microwave. I thought let’s get on the internet…NO! I felt empty without my electricity..haha. I talked on my cell for awhile and got extremely bored..so I went shopping!! Holiday shopping has began!

What a beautiful day. It has been snowing all day. I woke up pretty early (5:30 a.m…that’s really early for me) I had plenty of time to drive to work. On the way I had time to enjoy the snow. For the past hour I have been doing some searches on NYC. I am planning to attend the Conan O’Brien show and was searching for the address to send for tickets. My professor suggested doing something creative so it would get their attention…let's wait and see what I come up with.

Time

Got my first issue of Time today! I was so excited to see it in the mailbox. I don't know why the excitement...I read it like million times before. I am waiting for the weekend to come so I could read it without any distraction. Been busy finishing up this semester and haven't really had any time to focus on anything else. I want more snow to come so I could go skiing hopefully during the break.

New York
I am planning to go to New York city for spring break with an art class from school. Even though spring break is not for a few months (March) I been getting tons of e-mails. A lot of suggestions and group activities are provided by our professor in charge but they are giving me a lot of times in the evening to explore New York City. So I received this e-mail few days ago and wanted to have a easy access to all the links so I am putting in on the blog:
Our hotel is in the heart of the Theatre District, 1/2 block from Times Square. Edison hotel
Museum of Modern Art- MOMA
Exhibiting during my visit in March: Edvard Munch
The Metropolitan Museum- Met museum
The Guggenheim Museum-Guggenheim
Chelsea Neighborhood Gallery Tour - cohanaandleslie , Yossimilo
Free Time:
A stroll through Strawberry Fields: Central Park
Cheesecake!!: carnegiedeli
Chinatown: China
I really have to organize if I want to get everything out this trip. I don't want to have too many plans but don't want to have none either for my free time!

threatened to throw everything out of my room if I don't clean it and my brother even offered me money to buy something to organize my room (clean freak- my brother). I have way too many things...So instead of just making my room look nice by hiding the mess (in one week having a messy room again) I have decided to really think about what I need and throw the rest out. Let's see what the result will be.

Parents..
They believe in their children more than themselves
They look at you with admiration for they have raised you to be great
They believe you can do anything and give you strength to face anything
They believe in you even when you feel as if there isn't a reason to believe
They strive to give you the best
They make mistakes and show you they are human
At times they can take on any age - with insercurities, self-doubt, frustration
yet they believe in you
They believe in the impossible for you
They ask for help when they need it
Without their belief and hopes
where will you be?
I found this saved as a draft almost a year ago...I still feel this year most of the times :-) as I am sure (hopefully) most of you feel about your parents.

Funny Or Not?!?
This is kinda funny...Even though I feel kinda sad to laugh about it.
Here I go:
1. Go to google
2. type in failure
3. then press the button: I'm feeling lucky
Is it funny?

focus on your life... not hollywood!
Don’t get me wrong. I think there is a limit to everything on television but these shows are everywhere. A week ago my sister and I were having dinner and we were talking about Brad Pitt as if he was a friend…how horrified we were! We stared at each other dumbfounded and said how the hell we got to this topic. I refuse to look at magazines, shows, and everything that has to do with pointless ponderings! It’s been hard but if anyone catches me talking about actresses and actors please slap me! I am going to invest more of my time to good television, books, and other forms of educational medias. I’ll watch the movies. That’s the work of the entire crew...So much work.. but NO to pointless Television shows! Let’s invest more of our time on PBS!

This is a cool picture...the two flowers are all the way at the bottom. The plant is 5 feet.

Spielberg
Did you know Seven Spielberg did not have the grades high enough to get him into film school? He released Jaws in 1975 which brought the idea of big-budget summer action movies. Hollywood adopted the mentality "Big budget equals big blockbuster". Spielberg won two Oscars and of the top 25 all-time movie hits, four of them were directed by Spielberg!
Keep dreaming...keep going.
It has been a busy day. I came back from work and edited my cousin's wedding DVD for three hours...but the damn thing is not exporting properly. Then my brother-in-law was showing me around Scottrade and the basis of trading stocks.

Anti-War protest
Yesterday a protest was held at the U against the war. I got off class and was curious to know how an anti-war protest was being conducted. So I was standing in the crowd listening to the speeches being given. The usual: listing of how much money, lives, and resources are being used in Iraq when they can be put to a better use in the states All I know is: I don’t know! I don’t know about the war… it bad or good? I mean it’s a war…but can something good come out of this: freedom for Iraq? I know I should be more informed about war and should have a stand on it…but I don’t. From what I heard from the officials at the rally: it was a good turn out.

undecimal (UHN-des-uh-muhl) adjective
Based on the number eleven.
[From Latin undecim (eleven).]
Some people do have undecimal hands: they might have eleven fingers. The bonus digit is called supernumerary. Supernumerary parts don't have to be fingers. For example, instead of a binary arrangement, some people are gifted with an extra nipple. You could call them "supernumammary".
-Anu Garg
gargATwordsmith.org
"A modern though little realised example of undecimal counting is seen in the ISBN of published books. Any ISBN comprises ten digits. If you multiply the first by ten, the second by nine, the third by eight, and so on, summing the results as you go along, the result will always be divisible by eleven."

Italian Food!
Had dinner at Olive Garden on Saturday. What a great restaurant. This weekend I realized how much I like Italian food. I would be happy if I don’t go by another Chinese restaurant ever :--) I love eating out…not so much for food but for the conversations. I tend to have the best conversations over dinner at restaurants. Why is that? Doesn't most of us do? At work yesterday I was having my leftovers when an employee of the company recommended that I go to Victoria's Fine Italian Cuisine in Rochester. He said that its run by Mexican chef and the best Italian food he had!

Wow. Is it only me or is it getting harder to have a simple disagreements with your parents? As they get older---they are stubborn and are not willing to listen to anything others have to say…especially if they are wrong. Is their way or just have to deal with it.
Most of the times my parents are fine…not trying to make them seem like some bitter people…but some days just no idea what to do.
I think everyone has a choice as to what attitude they are going to have about a situation. My parents have to train their mind to have a clam and peaceful outlook about the future. Learn to relax! Know that you can’t control everything that goes around you and learn to accept things for what it is. Maybe they’ll take it easy in a couple of years…once all of us a settled down.
Got to change with life.
